Trip program
The tour happens at night starting 30 mins after sunset, we will go aurora hunting, and if there are no auroras, we'll do astrophotography and astronomy, conditions permitting. We will be out at minimum 3 hours every night and some nights we will stay for later.
During the day, you’re free to wander around Yellowknife and during one of the days, we will cover theory sessions on photography, aurora hunting and photo processing. Also, there are a lot of amazing activities to do during the day, I will join you in some of them.
A detailed program will be sent to you by e-mail, more details will be also shared during a ZOOM call that we will have couple weeks before the trip.
Your travel guide
Samer creates communities around him centered on wonder, discovery of the sky and adventure. An avid astrophotographer and software engineer, he thrives when surrounded by nature and sharing his passions. His journey began in 2016, in Montreal, when he organized his first expeditions to the stars, in places where light pollution was fading. His fascinating adventures stimulated his mission. He founded Zenderfull in 2020 with the aim of democratizing access to the starry sky and outdoor experiences for all. After all, we're all just stardust.

I’ve been hosting tours since many years now, and I’ve been a licensed tour operator since 2022.
Trust that you are in the hands of an experienced guide who cares about your safety and enjoyment.
-
My tour is designed to allow you to maximise your experience regardless if you’re here to take photos or simply to watch the aurora.
I always will take you to places that are not so populated with big tours, most of the time we’ll be on our own there.

Many ask me, do I need to be a photographer to join, the answer is no. But if you’re interested in learning photography, this is your chance to learn even if you only have a phone, I will explain all the basics of day and night photography.
Hey, It’s Samer from Zenderfull, and since I started photographing the aurora in 2015, I got obsessed with it, and I really want you to experience it with me.
Watching the Northern Lights changed my life! Auroras are unique because they come in different shapes and colours, but also because being in places in the Far North brings a sense of comfort.
Most Yellowknife tours are available for only few hours and a large group size (24 people if not more), that’s why I offer a small group tour that last long enough to see all the beauty of the aurora.
In addition to aurora viewing, I will also explain a lot about astronomy and astrophotography, so even if you have no experience in photography, I will make sure you get all the best photos, using any camera you have, including your smart phone!
Note that I am the only Quebec company licensed to be your guide in Yellowknife (License number: NS-156-2023).
I acknowledge that we are on the land of Chief Drygeese Territory, the traditional territory of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, whose connection to this land stretches back through the ages. I honor the histories, languages, and cultures of all Indigenous Peoples, including the North Slave Métis and other First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, whose ongoing presence and contributions continue to enrich our community.

Clothing: Yellowknife is going to be cold and as we do astrophotography we don’t move much, so be prepared and bring your cold weather clothing. We recommend the multi layer system, bring 2 pairs of mitts, a beanie/toque, insulated boots, thermals, down jacket, rain jacket, face/neck warmer, headlamp with the red light & some hand/foot warmers, and don’t forget your amazing energy!
Equipment: We recommend using a DSLR/Mirrorless camera with a wide angle fast lens. A fast lens lets more light in, we’re looking at lenses with aperture 1.4 or 2.8. Bring a tripod, a trigger/intervalometer to keep the camera shooting on its own. Bring extra batteries and memory cards too.
If you wish to rent equipment, we are partners with Royal Photo, get in touch with us so we provide you with a 20% discount code for the rental. -
All of our events are made for all levels, even people who have zero knowledge in photography will profit from our outings, especially on trips like that where we spend a lot of time together, weI will make notes of all your questions so we can have them answered.
